NEW JERSEY RESIDENTS LEARN FANCY FOOTWORK

It wasn’t too long ago that Lyndhurst, New Jersey Township Public Affairs Commissioner Brian Haggerty launched the free seminar “Mannerly Speaking” to impart the virtues of “Dining and Social Etiquette” for all Lyndhurst residents. In his effort to further enhance the lives of young and old alike, Brian has literally added a next step to his popular program …a dance step!

On Thursday, March 11th, at the Lyndhurst Health Center Learning Annex, 253 Stuyvesant Avenue, a free course entitled “Social Dancing for Social Confidence” began. The program teaches Lyndhurstians, of all ages, how to enjoy themselves at any venue that includes social dancing. Township resident Andrew Abrams and his troupe of dance instructor specialists will teach the basics of most of the popular partner dances including: Merengue, Rumba, Cha Cha, Mambo / Salsa, Hustle, Swing, Foxtrot, and Waltz.

The program is comprised of a series of classes over a one-year term that will end in a formal celebration. Students will joyfully exercise their newfound skills in social correctness and aptitude at the dinner table as well as on the dance floor at the First Annual Lyndhurst Gala. The party will include performances by professional dancers as well as the students themselves.

The Thursday night classes will be conducted on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month; and will include a 2-hour lesson with practice session. Class time will be from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

Mr. Abrams guarantees that anyone with two left feet will be cured of that affliction; and they will become confident social dancers at any social function, for the rest of their lives.
